Getting A Cheap Satellite TV Service

By Ryan Steele

Satellite TV usage is on the rise due to the low cost and increased number of programming options available to the consumer over traditional cable television. Cable TV leaves the consumer with high cable bills and very few options when it comes to choosing a cable provider. Continue reading for information about cheap satellite TV service that is reliable.

If you want better programming and an increased number of channels to choose from, an alternate to cable TV service is probably the way to go. There are two well-known satellite TV providers, Dish Network and DirectTV. Both offer similar programming choices. You can typically choose from over 250 channels, both have HD packages, pay-per-view, and commercial free music choices. These TV companies offer on-demand movies and the selections are typically pretty good. Satellite TV brings new releases to your home before they are even available to rent.

Installation costs are either low or non-existent. Both companies offer special deals and there is no need to purchase the equipment anymore. This is great news for those seeking low-cost TV options.

Some people worry about having an ugly dish attached to their house. This is no longer the case and skilled technicians know how to hide the cables and keep equipment out of sight.

Both DirectTV and Dish Network have good customer service. Other less known companies may not be as friendly and will often have hidden costs. Just do your research before you decide on a TV company. If you want good customer treatment, a trustworthy provider, and great programming, then go with one of the major TV providers in either DirectTV or Dish Network.

Dish Network has a starter package that is usually in the lower twenties per month with HD that is free for life. The top package is a little higher per month with 260 programming channels. You are locked in for a year and then your price increases. You can get the special deals with a two-year contract.

You can subscribe to DirectTV typically in the range of the higher twenties a month and you can add HD and an HDTV receiver for an additional cost. The top premier package can be over a hundred a month after three months of a lower introductory rate. You have to sign a two-year agreement for the highest priced package that includes free HD and 285 channels.

If you are having trouble deciding which provider to choose, there are a few things to look for. First, you need to decide which one provides the best customer service. Next, look and see what types of special offers they have for new customers. You should also do a little price comparison and decide which ultimately costs less for the types of programming offered. Both companies offer the most sought after channels, but Dish Network's prices tend to be a bit lower than DirectTV. Finally, check and see what each company charges for add-ons like HD and HDTV receivers. Knowing these facts before you decide will help you find the cheap satellite TV service that you are looking for.
