A 19-pin HDMI connection is recommended provided that your TV supports this type of connection because it can display resolutions up to high definition 1080p on your television screen. Apart from that, you also have to connect a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug into the line-out port of your PC sound card. As for the other end of the cord, plug it into the audio input port on your TV to play stereo sound through your TV speakers.

Once a connection has already been established, your next step is to turn on the TV, as well as your computer. Allow your computer to detect the television as a second monitor plugged into the system automatically. Use your TV's remote control to modify your settings. Switch to "External Inputs" from the menu, and change the default "Video 1" to a different selection. It can be "HDMI 1" or "Video 2", depending on how you have established the connection.

You may also need to change the screen resolution of your TV using the display settings in your control panel. Otherwise, the picture may appear distorted. The last step is to open a media player that is capable of playing the computer video you wish to see on the television screen.
