Watch Movies From Computer On TV Advice

By Sharon Childs

Modern technology gave birth to the internet. From there, digital compression and bandwidth expansion were also developed. These breakthrough revolutions made it possible to buy and download music over the internet, and to view movies online. However, most of us do not want to view movies on our 17-inch computer monitors. What we want is to view them on our 37-inch television screens. Here, now, is how to watch movies from computer on TV.

There are several ways by which you can view movies from your computer on your television screen. The first and perhaps the simplest way of doing it is to burn CDs. The problem with this method, however, is that most service encodes its downloadable video files with some form of digital rights management (DRM). This restricts the number of copies a customer can make and usually blocks the viewer from burning a copy onto a DVD.

Another option is to stream the video. A variety of choices exist for moving video across a home network. There are, in fact, several digital media receivers (DMRs) that work with the Windows Media Connect file-sharing protocol. With this method, the software is integrated into the free Windows Media Player 11, and the video or DRM movie is streamed without violating the licenses. These systems work best over an Ethernet connection or a Wireless G or N connection whose speed is at least 54 megabits per second.

The last method, which is growing in popularity these days, is to plug it in. This method is easy because all you need to do in order to get your movies onto your TV is to directly plug your computer into your set. Computers usually come with video boards that output via S-video, digital video interface (DVI), or even high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI). Try to check whether or not your television input matches your computer's video output. If yes, then you can simply plug one into the other end and enable your TV to act as a second display.

You may also need to change the screen resolution of your TV using the display settings in your control panel. Otherwise, the picture may appear distorted. The last step is to open a media player that is capable of playing the computer video you wish to see on the television screen.

Getting video from PC to TV isn't as easy as it should be, but it can be done. All you have to do is to learn the tricks that will enable you to watch movies from computer on TV.
